POSITION
Van Wyck is seeking Event Designers with strong graphic design skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will also have had experience in experiential event design. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and producing visual elements for private and brand events, with a focus on branding, invitations, digital assets, and print materials. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver highly creative, concept-driven solutions tailored to clients’ needs while ensuring cohesive and cost-effective execution. 

This role requires close collaboration with clients, internal event teams, and our studio, as well as a deep understanding of branding, typography, and design frameworks. It is the perfect opportunity for a designer who can both generate innovative ideas and bring them to life across various media formats, ensuring every project achieves its full creative potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Cultivate and manage the most important asset of our firm: our relationships with our clients. From inception and creative process to ongoing project management and execution, you’re in the driver seat
  • Coordinate all aspects of events and special projects, including comprehensive event concepts, design and creative concepts, logistics, and coordination of all event elements
  • Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with vendors, ensuring quality and timely delivery of services
  • Lead on-site execution, including troubleshooting, ensuring timelines are met, and maintaining client satisfaction during events
  • Prepare and manage client-facing documentation such as concept notes, estimates, presentations, and timelines
  • Manage the event budget, track expenses, and handle post-event financial reconciliation
  • Address new client inquiries and collaborating with company leadership

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
Candidates must possess the following qualities:
  • Minimum of 3 years in a design-related role; event design is a plus!
  • Proficiency in graphic design software, including InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, and/or Photoshop
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple large-scale projects with shifting deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, delivering clear and timely information
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and foster collaboration within a team
  • Talent for creating compelling, evocative design concepts in InDesign or PowerPoint that capture the spirit and details of an event
  • Creative problem solver with a high level of innovation and adaptability
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, interior design, architecture, or a related field
  • Experience in special events, floral design, interior or architectural design, entertainment, or theater set design
  • Superior aesthetic sensibilities paired with a strong work ethic
  • Proficiency in developing floor plans and site plans using AutoCAD
  • Expertise in crafting visually striking design concepts in InDesign and/or PowerPoint to convey event details and creative vision
  • Skilled in 3D illustration and rendering programs
  • Experience in project management, including strategy development and execution oversight
  • Knowledge of budgeting, fabrication, cost management, and delivering projects within financial constraints
  • Ability to freehand sketch designs and details or proficiency in video editing.
  • Familiarity with interiors and prop styling for events


In accordance with New York City law, Van Wyck & Van Wyck provides a good faith salary range for this position. The annual base salary range for the Event Project Manager role is $70,000 to $90,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
