Job Description

Role Overview

IGT (International Game Technology) seeks a Junior Audio Designer with a passion for creating audio for games to join our audio department in Sydney (Australia) and make premium-quality game audio assets for land-based slot machines. As the successful candidate, you will become part of the audio design team that collaborates with multiple disciplines across all our studios in the Asia Pacific region to produce world-class sound design, voice over, and audio systems for the next generation of games.

Employment Engagement

This is a full-time, 2-year minimum contract with an opportunity to convert to a full-time permanent position at the end of the contractual period. Hybrid working arrangements are possible, however, you will be required to attend the Macquarie Park NSW office Tuesday-Thursday with a choice to work from home Monday and Friday.

Responsibilities

This is predominantly a sound design, audio engineering and technical audio role. No compositional experience is needed; however, music mixing/mastering are essential aspects of the role. Experience and training with audio systems within Unity will be very highly regarded.
As an audio specialist, you will be responsible for audio asset development, audio mixing/mastering, and testing for our games, so training and experience with audio theory, production tools, systems, processes, techniques, project management, and communication is crucial.
In the absence of relevant work history, we will consider your tertiary qualification or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience. Casino gaming experience is an advantage, but not essential, and audio production skillsets from other industries will be highly regarded.
Description
In this role, you will work with other audio creatives, producers, artists, engineers, and tools teams to design, produce, implement, and test high quality audio assets for land-based slot machines. This will require you to:
•    Enjoy spending your days creating game audio.
•    Design audio systems to enhance the game experience and resolve game design challenges.
•    Interpret and execute creative briefs.
•    Use a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) such as Cubase or Nuendo to produce sound effects, edit/polish voice over assets, and edit/mix music.
•    Use software synthesizer technology and various synthesis techniques to design sonic events.
•    Record and design sound effects from scratch and in conjunction with sound effects library managers such as Soundly.
•    Synchronise audio events to animated sequences and game objects.
•    Mix and remix finished compositions and sound effects using professional audio production plugins such as FabFilter and Waves.
•    Use 2-track editing applications such as WaveLab to edit, master and prepare audio assets for implementation into the game engine.
•    Work with the Unity game engine to implement audio assets and test game mechanics, including using the Unity Audio Mixer to design and integrate audio systems alongside the Software team.
•    Be accountable to deadlines and manage expectations by contributing to project and task management systems such as Jira & Confluence.
•    Exhibit great digital hygiene and utilize version tracking systems like Perforce and GitHub.
•    Collaborate with a range of creative and technical personnel using communication platforms like Microsoft Teams.
•    Have excellent written and oral communications skills, effective inter-personal skills, and the ability to act professionally with a diverse group of staff.
•    Integrate with the wider IGT group and contribute to a healthy professional culture.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree; an advanced degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • 5 years of work experience; 2 years of related experience is required.
